GRADES & CLASSES ON OFFER AT HEADSTART CHRISTIAN PRE-PRIMARY

Headstart Pre-Primary is a parallel medium school. English and Afrikaans will be used in the classroom and children are encouraged to become fully bilingual by actively speaking and practising their skills at home, at school and wherever your child socializes with other people.

Headstart also boasts a highly esteemed Grade R class and offers our own special school readiness and reading program.

Toddlers aged 1 & 2 Years of Age

Our newly revamped playschool caters to children ages 12 months to 36 months. Small groups are formed according to age and programme overseen and endorsed by an occupational therapist. Have absolute peace of mind while your little one plays; available from Monday – Friday (08:00-16:30).

Grade 000

Grade 000 Curriculum

3 & 4 YEARS OLD | PENQUINS

Students must be 3 to enter as at 1 January.

In Grade 000, we cater to the specific developmental needs and an emphasis on creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that encourages exploration, play, and social interaction. Foundational skills are promoted in various areas, including language and literacy, numeracy, creative arts, and physical and social-emotional development.

Grade 00

Grade 00 Curriculum

4 & 5 Years Old | DOLPHINS

Students must be 4 to enter as at 1 January.

In Grade 00, we lead children to engage in age-appropriate activities that promote language and literacy development. They further develop their listening and speaking skills, expand their vocabulary, and begin to recognise and write letters and simple words. Reading readiness is encouraged through exposure to stories, rhymes, and early reading experiences.

Grade R

Grade R Curriculum

5 & 6 Years Old | STARFISH

Students must be 5 to enter as at 1 January.

In Grade R, children are introduced to more structured learning experiences, incorporating play-based activities. We aim to build on the skills and knowledge acquired in previous early childhood stages, further developing literacy and numeracy abilities. Children expand their vocabulary, enhance listening and speaking skills, and develop phonemic awareness.
